ERIN SHIMOJO

Violin

Erin Shimojo is a senior from Buffalo, New York attending Williamsville North High School. She began her violin studies at the age of six under the instruction of Greta Speller and is currently studying privately with Donna Lorenzo. She has been a prominent member of her high school’s symphonic orchestra since freshman year and is also a member of her school’s string quartet. She has also participated in numerous local, district, and state-level events such as the New York State School Music Association and the Erie County Music Educators Association. She was chosen as an alternate for the NYSSMA Conference All-State ensemble her junior year. In addition, she is an active member of the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra in which she served as the orchestra’s assistant concertmaster and concertmaster this past season. With this orchestra, she participated in a tour of Europe through cities such as Vienna, Prague, and Salzburg. During the summers, Erin continues to further develop her musicianship by participating in workshops such as the BRAVO International Chamber Music Workshop. This past summer she was accepted into the Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artists Orchestra.
